Review: The Last Wish

The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The literary foundation for the Netflix series (the show impressively mirrors the book's narrative with remarkable fidelity). However, while the storyline remains engaging, the book's ambitious task of introducing numerous characters and establishing multiple storylines proves to be its Achilles' heel.

The abundance of characters and intricate plotlines leave little room for establishing a strong emotional connection with the reader. Despite the intriguing premise, the constant shifts in perspective and storyline disrupt the flow, preventing the formation of a gripping narrative. Instead of immersing readers in a seamless journey, the frequent transitions create a disjointed reading experience, lacking the cohesive momentum necessary to sustain engagement.

Nevertheless, "The Last Wish" retains its allure through its compelling storyline, offering glimpses of intrigue that pique curiosity. While the fragmented structure may hinder its ability to captivate fully, the inherent fascination of the plot ensures that readers remain invested, albeit with occasional interruptions.

Overall, the fragmented approach of "The Last Wish" hampers its ability to establish a compelling bond with its characters, resulting in a somewhat disjointed reading experience
